Our first workshop was presented by Gail Mance-Rios, the Deputy Director of the Rhode Island Higher Education Assistance Authority. She provided a lot of useful information about filing the FAFSA, when to file, and common mistakes that people make. 17 teens attended the workshop and had some fantastic questions such as:-How is a loan considered financial aid?
-How long will it take to pay back the loans?
-Will it hurt you to transfer schools?
She also stressed that everyone should apply for financial aid because you never know when your situation might change and money may not be available if you miss the application deadline.
You can apply after January 1st, so start filling out the FAFSA online over vacation!!
